You have all different categories of boxing equipment from head gear , boxing gloves, hand wraps, heavy bags, speed bags and so forth. Boxing bags are the essential steps of getting in shape. Heavy bags are made to build hard lean muscle from your shoulders to your elbows to make your punches more powerful as well as giving you and ultimate workout . Speed bags are used to improve your jab speed as well as your power punch speed but also there are other ways and techniques of using a speed bag. Hand wraps are sold at your local sport and goods store and they prevent you from hurting your wrist and also gives cushion to your knuckles. Boxing gloves come in different varieties as in size, shape, and material but especially in weight (ounces ) they protect you from getting really damaged to the face and body so it makes the sport more interesting and makes the fight's last longer. There are different types of equipment to use just go to your local sport and goods store and find these variety of equipment so lets get ready to rumble!!
Techniques and Skills
As an amateur boxer you will need to practice techniques and skills to go to the next level. Try and get the best equipment as possible to develop these skills. Start off with your stance by having your feet shoulder width and if your right handed you want your right foot back even with your left heel and be on your toes (gives you leverage) both hands up close to your chin with your chin down . Left hand should be slightly more forward then your right hand and lean your body in as if you had bad posture. And if your left handed do the opposite. The "footwork" its all about the footwork if you don't know how to move your feet your going to get slaughtered out there so practice on dodging and moving around. When moving left move left foot first then right foot, moving right move right foot first then left foot, moving forward u always want to use the foot that's closest in front of you, and when moving back you want to move the foot that's closest behind you then move the other foot practice this and it will help you a lot. You will be able to make it to the next level and also practice hard! And perfect the proper stance.
Boxing Workouts
Now this is where it's going to hit you. When you start off boxing yea! Its fun hitting the bag but you need to get in shape. Do push ups, jump roping, weight lifting, and jogging try and jog 2miles starting off and increase every week. One of my favorite's is weight lifting you can definitely feel the power difference in your punches and also feel more unstoppable but keep your head up don't underestimate you opponents. Another fun workout is jump roping it develops your speed and endurance as well as your calves doing this is a really big asset in making it in boxing. Just follow these simple exercises and you will be a champ one day.
